As I was selecting the paintings for this most recent show, I saw a theme emerge. All the paintings were of places I go or things I do to recharge, flowers grown in my urban community garden, books and coffee cups on the table, a beer at a restaurant where I can have a night off from cooking. Most of the paintings were from places I walk.
Most of us came out of the pandemic questioning our careers, habits, and life choices. We are trying to fight off burnout and isolation. Most of us are struggling to find ways to recharge and decompress. The Latin phrase “solvitur ambulando,“ (it is solved by walking} was true for me as I used walking as a way to recharge and to tap into my creativity by letting my mind wander. This show is about recharging and rest.
